What the rivers
are doing this week.

Updated every Monday morning by the guide team. Six rivers, the dominant rigs, and the recommended time of day to be on the water. If something changes mid-week, we'll add a note here.

Blue River below Dillon

240 cfs

Steady · clear

Holding at 240 cfs and clear all the way through Silverthorne. Best window is mid-morning to early afternoon. Rising water expected if the runoff opens. The home river, five minutes from the shop.

RECOMMENDED RIG

Tan Caddis #16 · Pheasant Tail dropper #18 · 5x tippet

Colorado at Pumphouse

1,100 cfs

Coming back into shape

Higher than ideal but fishable. Good streamer water. Float trips running daily. Walk-and-wade limited to side channels until levels drop another 200 cfs.

RECOMMENDED RIG

Yellow streamer · Sculpzilla #4 · 0x tippet · sink-tip line

Eagle River

720 cfs

Off color · dropping

Eagle is in the back end of runoff. Visibility 12-18 inches and improving daily. Lower stretches near Edwards fish first; upper stretches need another week. Worth it once it clears.

RECOMMENDED RIG

Black Stonefly #10 · Pat's Rubber Legs #8 · 4x tippet

South Platte tailwater

95 cfs

Midges am · caddis pm

Classic tailwater conditions through Cheesman Canyon and Deckers. Cold and clear. Midges in the morning, caddis in the last two hours of light. Long, fine leaders.

RECOMMENDED RIG

RS2 #20-22 · Zebra midge #20 · 6x tippet · 12-foot leader

Arkansas River

850 cfs

Stoneflies on · windows opening

The Upper Arkansas (Leadville to Granite) is fishing well as the runoff backs off. Lower Arkansas (Salida, Wellsville) is still high but droppable. The Mother's Day caddis hatch is winding down; stoneflies are the play.

RECOMMENDED RIG

Yellow Stimulator #10 · Pat's Rubber Legs #8 dropper · 4x tippet

Williams Fork

165 cfs

Tailwater · year-round

Small, technical, and rarely crowded. The Williams Fork tailwater fishes year-round and is at its best in spring and fall. A guide trip here is the move when you want quiet water and big browns.

RECOMMENDED RIG

BWO #18 · midge dropper #20 · 5x tippet
